Federal Court Appoints Faruqi & Faruqi as Co-Lead Counsel in Antitrust Class Action Regarding Birth Control Pill Loestrin 24 Fe
Chief Judge William E. Smith of the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island has appointed Faruqi & Faruqi to serve as Co-Lead Counsel to represent a class of direct purchasers of the birth control pill Loestrin 24 Fe or its generic equivalent. The purchasers allege that Warner Chilcott and Watson (now both part of Allergan) colluded to keep the price of the drug artificially high, among other claims. Chief Judge Smith found that class-wide injury could be established at trial by evidence common to the class, and that the number of direct purchasers—at 47—was sufficiently large to warrant class status.
