Faruqi & Faruqi, LLP filed a Class and Collective Action Lawsuit against the NYPD as well as Duane Reade, Bloomberg, B&H Foto, IHOP and other Vendors, asserting claims on behalf of NYPD Officers, Detectives, Sergeants, and Lieutenants (together, the “Officers”) who worked for these Vendors through the Paid Detail Program (“PDP”). The lawsuit seeks to collect money damages, going back to July 3, 2014, arising from the failure of the NYPD and the Vendors to pay Officers all their wages in a timely manner as required by the law. Indeed, the law requires that these Officers be paid their wages on their next pay day. Despite this, oftentimes, Officers have to wait for weeks, and even months, to receive their paychecks.
On September 27, 2022, the Federal Court certified this lawsuit as a Collective Action and ordered notices of the lawsuit to be sent out to Officers who worked PDP shifts for these Vendors to allow them an opportunity to join the case. The suit is currently pending before the Honorable Andrew L. Carter Jr. in the Southern District of New York.
